Well, this was bound to happen. 

Health Canada has made the official decision to approve Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine for use in all Canadians. Global News broke the story on early Wednesday morning:

“Officials have said they expect doses of the Moderna vaccine to arrive in Canada within 48 hours of approval. The government has inked a deal to get 168,000 doses of the vaccine by the end of December [of a 40 million dose order].

…Health Canada authorized the vaccine after an independent and thorough scientific review for safety, efficacy and quality. After accessing all the data we concluded there was strong evidence that showed the benefits of the vaccine outweighed the risks.”

This approval comes just 10 days after the vaccine from Pfizer and BioNTech was approved by Health Canada, and a week after the US FDA approved it. 

So just like the United States, two COVID-19 vaccines are going to be the highlights of 2021. That is, unless the vaccines from Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca also get approved by both countries. 

And if all goes well, the entire adult population of Canada, some 30 million individuals, will be complete by the end of 2021. 

Unlike Pfizer’s vaccine, Moderna’s candidate for developing immunity to COVID-19 can be stored at ordinary freezer temperatures. Thus, it is more practical for the authorities to have the vaccine distributed to rural territories and any other location without a fully robust healthcare system. 

However… there are still some warnings that come with the vaccine:

• Avoid getting the vaccine if you have symptoms of COVID-19
• Avoid getting the vaccine if you are allergic to any of its ingredients
• Exercise caution in getting the vaccine if you are breastfeeding or pregnant
• The vaccine SHOULD NOT be given to children that are 12 years old and under

All of the horror stories we’ve heard about side effects of COVID-19 – Bell’s palsy, chills, muscle pain, fever, headaches, and more – have come exclusively from the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. 

There’s no telling what will happen with the vaccine from Moderna, but it would be reasonable to suspect the severity and frequency of side effects will be the same. Whether this is a good thing or bad thing is up to the individual. 

But either way you look at it, we need to continue the conversation about vaccine safety and the right of every citizen to make an informed decision to take it (or not).

$250 Million Will Be Spent in “Convincing” People to Take the COVID-19 Vaccine

As it stands right now, America is a divided nation when it comes to the COVID-19 vaccine. Recent polls show that 40-50% of Americans will “likely not” or “definitely not” take the vaccine. 

For further context, vaccine-induced herd-immunity takes place when at least 70% of a nation’s population gets vaccinated (or develops natural antibodies to the virus, which our health authorities are NOT willing to let happen). 

So how can this deep level of mistrust be handled? In the eyes of the Department of Health and Human Services, their solution is to “spend $250 million on a national education campaign to build public trust in the vaccine”. 

Right… if I’m understanding this correctly, we need to be persuaded to take the vaccine through government-approved messaging. No asking the hard questions, no looking at the hard scientific data, or any of the activities that allow us to push the boundaries of science and progress. 

Just sit down, shut up, and eat the propaganda being forced down your throat like a good little boy. 

I don’t know about you, but I have a feeling this will turn into yet another textbook example of wasted federal spending.  

If You Refuse the COVID-19 Vaccine, Should You Also Lose Access to Medical Treatment?

People continue to get heated about individuals who do not want to take the COVID-19 vaccine. So much so, to the point where they start suggesting some very bad things happen to said individuals. 

Take a look at Wolfram Henn, a geneticist based in Germany. He had some pretty nasty things to say about vaccine-refusing individuals to German newspaper Bild:

“Whoever wants to refuse the vaccination outright, he should, please also always carry a document with the inscription: ‘I don’t want to be vaccinated!I want to leave the protection against the disease to others! I want,if I get sick, to leave my intensive care bed and ventilator to others!’

…[the efficacy of vaccines has been proven] ‘a billion times over’… [people should] ‘leave it to the experts [rather than listening to those who oppose vaccinations].

I urgently recommend that these alarmists go to the nearest hospital and present their conspiracy theories to the doctors and nurses who have just come from the overcrowded intensive care unit completely exhausted.”

Looks like someone took a huge sh*t in his breakfast cereal that morning, because I can’t find any other rational explanation for his hot-headed rant. Let’s hope he takes a Xanax, calms down, and thinks about the sheer stupidity of what he publicly said. 

The INSANE Security Protocols Being Used to Safeguard COVID-19 Vaccines

I just came across this interesting article on Forbes which details the ridiculous extent to which the COVID-19 vaccines are being secured and protected. 

It was a lot of personal stories and anecdotes, but allow me to share the main highlights from the article:

• Every vaccine has its movement closely monitored, logged and documented – from when it gets shipped out to when it gets stored in a freezer
• Each vaccine is also equipped with a temperature monitor that can be monitored by Pfizer to ensure they do not thaw out
• The freezers used to store the COVID-19 vaccines are padlocked
• The rooms containing the freezers have every single inch covered by 24/7 video camera surveillance (and of course, the rooms themselves are locked)
• Also, the rooms are equipped with bulletproof glass

Just to put all of this into perspective… this is the same level of security used to closely guard a pharmacy’s supply of opioids, if not greater. 

Let me remind you that COVID-19 vaccines are expected to pull in multiple BILLIONS of dollars in profits for each company that can successfully get them approved by the FDA. The last thing they want is lost money due to thieves who steal the vaccines and attempt to make their own money. 

If they have to go overboard to protect their most valuable asset, so be it.
